Star of Light Christmas

Yesterday I taught a group of seniors at Senior Moments in Red Beach.  They each made this Christmas card

They all did really well making their cards and they were impressed by the Big Shot - how it could emboss the falling snow onto the cardstock, and then how the same 'machine' as they called it, could be used to cut their star.  One dear lady was 95 and she participated just as much as anyone else.

The design of the card started from this one on Pinterest and went from there. I changed the base to Smoky Slate to match my silver snowflake and I used the Softly Falling embossing folder.

Next week the other group are making covered Christmas notepads.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Smoky Slate, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Paper: Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper, Silver Glimmer Paper
Stamps: Seasonal Bells, Christmas Happiness (sentiment inside)
Dies: Bunch of Banners, Starlight Thinlits Dies
Other: Softly Falling Embossing folder

Auckland Extravaganza

On Saturday I taught at our Auckland Extravaganza Christmas Event.  Our team taught a triple panel card with Christmas Pinecones.

We taught the guests how to mask the Pinecones to get the effect of the leaves behind in the background with the Pinecones in the foreground.

Extravaganza is such a fun day for all.  Not only do you come away with five beautiful projects but you learn tips and tricks like this (the masking) throughout the day.

Decorating the envelope makes a difference too

The Year of Cheer Embellishments come in a pack of both silver and gold.  The guests either made a silver or gold version with the sequin trim to match.

There are lots of displays set up for you to get ideas and inspiration from and you are welcome to take photos of these.

I'll share the other team's projects with you in a couple of days, including the one that my daughter thought was perfect for her teddy bear.

Supplies for our project:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Old Olive, Merry Music Speciality DSP
Inks: Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Old Olive
Stamps: Christmas Happiness, Labels to Love
Other: Layered Leaves Embossing Folder, Everyday Label Punch, Whisper White Bakers Twine
Embellishments: Mini Sequin Trim - (Silver or Gold), Year of Cheer Embellishments (Silver or Gold)

Unicorn Birthday

My daughter was invited to a birthday party this afternoon.  Her friend is very keen on Unicorns.  I found this card on Pinterest which we decided we'd follow.

My daughter and I worked on making it together and here is our version which is very similar.  We've used a few retired items to make this one, but it was worth it.

For the inside we used the Birthday Delivery stamp set and stamped the cake which Emma coloured in, and added the sentiment which worked perfectly for her friend.

We also found a unicorn gift to go with it so I'm sure the birthday girl will like it.

Supplies:
Stamps: Work of Art, Fairy Celebration, Kinda Eclectic (retired)
Inks: Real Red, Tangelo Twist (retired), Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Emerald Envy, Pacific Point, Perfect Plum
Cardstock: Whisper White, Perfect Plum, Powder Pink
Punches: Fox Builder, Owl Builder (retired), Party Punch Pack (candle for horn - retired), Confetti Stars Border (retired), Bitty Butterfly punch (retired)
