Baby Bear 1st Birthday

The daughter of a friend of ours is celebrating her first birthday today.  I thought Baby Bear was the perfect set to use for her card.

I have used the same design we taught at the last Auckland Extravaganza but I added balloons to the right hand for more of a birthday theme.  I loved the way the bear turned out stamped all in Perfect Plum (stamped off once for layer 2 and twice for layer 3).

Supplies
Cardstock: Whisper White, Perfect Plum
Paper: Subtles DSP stack (Blushing Bride)
Stamps: Baby Bear, Balloon Celebration
Ink: Perfect Plum, Crushed Curry
Other: Balloon Bouquet punch, Little Numbers thinlit dies (retired)

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Last week my Daughters' school put on a production of the Wizard of Oz.  It was a lot of work but they all had a fabulous time.

To say thank you to the Principal for his efforts of production and co-ordination, I made a Wizard of Oz themed card and we got as many of the kids to sign it as we could.

The whole school were involved in the show, split over two casts, so we had a lot of people who needed to sign the card.  I made it so several panels folded out and because it was quite thick, I added a ribbon to tie it to keep it all together.

Thanks to Melissa Davies for her Scarecrow and Alex Bleicher for her punch art Lion.

Well done to all the kids, teachers and parents who helped.  The kids will remember it for a long time to come.

And yes, after several performances, the songs have finally come unstuck out of our heads - I think!

Happy 90th Birthday

Today I have a 90th birthday celebration to attend.  It's always a pleasure to celebrate with someone who reaches such a wonderful milestone.

The birthday lady has a beautiful garden and loves her flowers.  Last time I saw her she had a lovely Emerald Green top on so I wanted to combine both and I came up with this

It may be difficult to see in the picture but the rose is cut from Dazzling Diamonds (white) glimmer paper and is inlaid into the piece that is embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder.

Sadly these number dies have retired but they were just the right size for the corner of my card.  They too are cut from the glimmer paper.

Inside the card I have stamped the co-ordinating rose stamp and the birthday sentiment from the Rose Wonder set that matches the dies.

As a gift, we bought her a plant, but to dress it up a little I added a handmade plant stick.  Not only did it brighten the plant but we were able to write a message on the back of it for her so she knew who it came from amongst other gifts.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Emerald Envy, Mint Macaron, Whisper White, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
Big Shot: Rose Garden Thinlits die, Little Numbers dies (retired), Softly Falling Embossing folder
Stamps: Rose Wonder
Ink: Emerald Envy
