Swaps - samples and more samples

On Saturday we attended a team training event run by our team leader Jacque Williams.  Those who wanted to, added their name to a list to create swaps.

We each made 20 projects the same before we went and then on Saturday we swapped what we'd made for one from each person in the swap group.  This meant we came home with 20 different projects, mostly cards.

Here is the card that I made:

 and inside it simply said:

From the cards I received back, I've picked two that are my favourite to share with you here.

The first is this nautical one featuring the Seaside Shore stamp set.  I particularly like the way the anchor is attached to the 'rope' and the fancy knot she has made just adds to the effect.

from Lesley Scott
The second one features one of the hostess only sets called Love You Lots which is on page 199 of the annual catalogue.  I like the very clever way the die from the Flourish Thinlits set has been used to create a background/border for the image.

from Steph Munro
All the swaps I received were fantastic and a lot of hard work went into them.  I am part of a fabulous team and I enjoy getting together with them for events such as these.

Thank You

Some simple thank you cards I've made for my customers' orders.  I love this Mixed Borders set used here.  There are so many different things you can do with it.

Thanks to Carolina Evans for her inspiration for this card.  I considered making it in a different colour but in the end I felt the old olive worked so well I made it as is.

Swinging by with a birthday Hi

I needed to make a birthday card for a cousin in the UK.  I don't know her tastes very well but I know she loves cats so I chose to use a set from the new 2016 catalogue called "Sitting Here".

Do you know how some cards just come about by themselves?  Well that's how the colour of this one ended up being Peekaboo Peach.  I chose the peach for the cushion behind the cat and it went from there.

The layers of this card were achieved by using the 'masking technique'.  You need to remember to work from the foreground backwards when working this way so the cat is the first thing that is stamped.

If you'd like to learn how you can do this too, I'd be happy to teach you.

Because this card is going to the UK I thought 'Can't Beat Snail Mail' from the new Better Than Email set was just perfect.  Because who doesn't love to receive real post in the mail - especially a handmade birthday card!

Inside it simply says "Happy Birthday to One Fantastic Person".

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Peekaboo Peach
Stamps: Sitting Here, Foxy Friends, Thoughtful Banners, Balloon Celebration, Better Than Email, Designer Tin of Cards
Ink: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Peekaboo Peach, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight,
Markers: Peekaboo Peach, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party
Other: Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon

If You Go Down To The Woods Today...

you'll find Baby Bear.  At least we did at Extravaganza on Saturday.

Whilst making cards for my Baby Bear display (you'll see that further down), one of my daughters suggested we make a Teddy Bears Picnic card.  She went through my stamps and found some we could use and here's how it turned out:

I'm disappointed the trees didn't stamp well but we were out of Soft Sky cardstock and didn't have any left to re-stamp it.  However, trees are part of nature and nature is never perfect, so neither are my trees.

Supplies
Cardstock: Whisper White, Soft Sky
Stamps: Baby Bear, Lovely As A Tree, Gorgeous Grunge, Sprinkles of Life, Sitting Here
Ink: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Real Red, Early Espresso
Other: Sponge, Tree Builder Punch, Real Red marker

With the help of Mum we also created these cards which we mostly found the ideas for on Pinterest:

And here is the finished display with the cards attached.  We would have liked to have had more cards on it, but time was against us unfortunately.

I'll share with soon you the card our team made, and the other projects the guests made at Extravaganza.  Perhaps you can join us at the next one...
