A Little Kindness

A distant relative that we have semi recently found (my Grandmother's birth family) very kindly sent me some original memorial cards that she came across.  They were in immaculate condition and dated back as far as 1915.  They were a great help in my family research.

She has sent us a few bits and pieces but mostly it has been wonderful for my Dad to meet family he's never known about.  I thought I'd send her a thank you card and a small gift to express our gratitude.

I used up some retired DSP (designer series paper) and adapted this notepad for her - she is an elderly lady and likes to write letters to people.  I then made her a card to match.

I hope she likes it.  If nothing else its always nice to get 'real' mail in the letterbox.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Stamps: An Open Heart, Kinda Eclectic, Designer Tin of Cards
Paper: Painted Blooms DSP
Other: Lots of Labels dies, Basic Pearls

Birthday card with a surprise inside

It is a friend's birthday today so I sent her a bright and fun birthday card in the mail.

On the outside I've used the It's My Party designer series paper to create a bright and fun card.  I've added sparkly white balloons to contrast against the black and the melon mambo pink.

Inside, some of you may have seen this already as this is the card we taught at the last Auckland Extravaganza.  However it's a goody and I knew my friend would like it.

This awesome 12 x 12 paper stack, along with some of the co-ordinating items in the suite, is only available for a few more days so make sure you get yours before its too late.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Mint Macaron,
Paper: Its My Party DSP, Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper
Other: Party Pop-Up thinlit dies, Its My Party Enamel dots, Balloon Bouquet punch,

So many thoughtful cards

Well it was my birthday last week and I received many cards from people who were thinking of me.  I felt very touched.  Here are some of the handmade ones I received:

This one was from my Mum.  I love the different layers and mats she's used and the little piece of Watermelon lace on the front just tops it off perfectly.

This one from my fellow team member Angela Palmer.  Angela and I teach together at the Creative Inkers Team Auckland Extravaganza.  This is a very cool technique whereby the front swings through the frame - I hope you can see it from the photo.

This one was from Paula Reid who is participating in the #I'mBringingBirthdaysBack movement which was started by Shannon West of the Stampin' Up! Home office.  Check it out here

From my team leader Julia Leece

and last but not least from Hubby's Mum

Of course my Girls made me birthday cards too and I can't share my birthday cards with you without sharing theirs too.  All handmade cards are special but the ones from our kids are the most special to us.

Wasn't I lucky to receive such wonderful handmade cards from so many people?  Which one is your favourite?

Happy Mother's Day

I hope all Mum's out there had a happy Mother's Day.  I want to share with you not only the two cards I made for our Mums for Mother's Day, but they're also a sneak peak of some new products coming in the new catalogue released on 1st June.

Firstly the card for hubby's Mum - This is one of the new in-colours called Emerald Envy.  It's showing a little more turquoise in this photo than it actually is but its a gorgeous new colour.

The embossing is one of a pair of new mini folders - the other which I've used on my Mum's card further down.

I stamped the bouquet of flowers again on the inside and on the envelope.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Emerald Envy, Whisper White
Stamps: Sitting Here, Mixed Borders
Ink: Emerald Envy, Tip Top Taupe, Delighful Dijon, So Saffron, Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo, Cucumber Crush
Other: Floral Affection Embossing Folders

Now here is the card I made for my Mum.  Again this is a brand new colour called Flirty Flamingo and I'm really liking it.

The photo hasn't come out very well unfortunately.  Whilst this photo is too dark, and doesn't represent the colour well, it does show you the embossing a whole lot better.

This is the other embossing folder in the pair called Floral Affection.  They are part of a new suite of products called the Affectionately Yours Suite and will be available on the 1st June.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White
Stamps: Timeless Textures
Ink: Flirty Flamingo
Other: Floral Affection Embossing Folders, Little Letters Thinlits dies, Basic Pearls

Of course my sweet daughter's each made me a card for Mother's Day (at Nana's house).  They were pretty adamant about how they wanted their cards to look I'm told.  It only makes them all the more special.  Here they are:

I love the way she has carried the ladybirds are creeping across the front from the inside of the card.

Lastly I'd like to congratulate Meaghan Cooley for winning my Mother's Day competition.  She wins a set of five handmade cards for herself and five for her Mum Jill.
